SMARTOURISM.BG is a research project launched in 2015 with the aim to explore the practices and challenges of knowledge management in tourism in Bulgaria. We have run extensive research in Bulgarian hospitality industry and all Bulgarian municipalities. As a result, considerable information has been accumulated about the development of Smart Tourism and the use of ICT in tourism in Bulgaria.
Within the framework of the project we organize the annual SMARTOURISM.BG national conference, where the research results, challenges and best practices are presented in the following areas:
- Smart human resources management in tourism;
- Innovative and creative models and high technologies in good governance in tourism and hospitality;
- Smart management of tourist destinations – regional development, architecture, ecology;
- Smart tourism security management.
The project is being implemented in partnership with the Bulgarian Association of Hospitality Management Schools, the National Board of Tourism, the Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurant Association, the Department of Geography of Tourism at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski ”, the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Geodesy, the Civil Institute, ProActivePersonnel, ProActive Solutions, and the European Confederation of Outdoor Employers.
Since 2018, the SMARTOURISM.BG Hackathon was held recognizing innovative projects in the smart management intourism in Bulgaria.
